SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The (RV) Northwestern College wrestling team (4-5, 2-3 GPAC) continued their Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) dual slate this evening at (RV) Morningside (4-1, 4-1 GPAC), falling 34-12.

"Rough night for the Raiders. Kudos to the Mustangs. They came out and our wrestled us in every phase," said head coach
Rik Dahl. "We had some bright spots in matches, but were not able to put things together. Every time we did something, those dudes were on us."

The dual started at 149 pounds inside the Hindman-Hobbs Center on the campus of Morningside University. The Mustangs picked up a quick 6-0 lead in the first bout of the evening.

Morningside would extend their lead at 157 and 165 with 4-2 and 10-5 decisions, respectively. It was Morningside again at 174 picking up 12-7 decision to increase their lead up to 15-0.

No. 19-ranked
Luke Jenness (So., Primghar, Iowa/Sheldon) picked up the first points of the dual for the Raiders at 184 with a fall (0:42) victory over Morningside's Brody Kacmarynski, to improve his season record to 22-4 and picking up his team-high seventh fall of the season. The bout victory cut the Mustang lead to 15-6.

The Mustangs would pick up back-to-back falls at 197 and 285 pounds to push their lead up to 27-6 with three bouts remaining.

Jumping to the top of the line-up at 125, it was again Morningside taking a 10-3 decision and a 30-6 advantage. A Mustang major decision at 133 made it 34-6.

Morningside would forfeit the 133-pound bout, but it was the Mustangs prevailing 34-12.

"We need to have a short-term memory and get back to work tomorrow," concluded Dahl. "We close out the GPAC season with three big duals on Saturday. We will put our sights on Concordia, Hastings, and Midland."
