ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- The Northwestern College women's soccer team (2-3, 0-0 GPAC) prevailed in double overtime over the Graceland University Yellowjackets.. Julie Dunlap (Jr., Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) netted a goal in the 104th minute to win it for the Raiders. 

"The girls were resilient tonight," said head coach Shannon Andringa."We struggled to find our footing in the first half, as things were back and forth. We made some adjustments at halftime and I thought we controlled the second half and created some great chances. It was a game of grit heading into overtime and I'm proud of our girls for rising up."

The first half saw a lot of back and forth action but neither team could put the finishing touches on any of their attacks. Kaelin Alons (Jr., Orange City,Iow/Unity Christian) was able to make a number of saves to keep the Yellowjackets offense at bay. Neither team could break through and the score was deadlocked at the half. The Raiders began the second half with a big offensive push by controlling possession. The Raiders' offense continued to build some momentum and create chances but could not get a result on the board. The defensive battle continued throughout the second half as both teams could not break through and overtime was eminent.

The momentum continued to build for the Raiders as overtime began. Hannah Ten Pas (Jr., Oostburg, Wis/Oostburg) made a game-saving defensive play as Graceland threatened with an attack of their own in the 97th minute. Alons was quick to defend the net on a shot off of the rebound. The Raiders' attack continued to create chances and build momentum as the second overtime period began. In the 104th minute, a foul on the Yellowjackets gave the Raiders a free kick a few yards outside the box. Dunlap netted a well-struck ball to win it for the Raiders.

The Raiders out shot the Yellowjackets by one (17-16) and were able to get 13 of those shots on goal. Alons had another good performance in the net making 11 saves, improving her record to 2-3-0 on the year. 

Up Next: The Raiders will travel to York, Neb. to take on the Panthers of York College on Wednesday, Sept. 8 for a 2:30 pm kickoff.
