LE MARS, Iowa – The Northwestern College men's golf team competed at the Northwest Iowa Invitational Monday, September 20 and Tuesday, September 21 finishing the tournament with an ninth-place team finish.
The tournament took place at Willow Creek Golf Course in Le Mars, Iowa with a Par 72. Four Raider rounds were posted under par on the tournament.
Brock Murphy (Jr., Tea, S.D./Tea Area) led the team with a three-round score of 216, nine strokes ahead of the second-place finishing Raider. He was the only Northwestern golfer to shoot under par twice -1 in Round 2 and -2 in Round 3.
The third through fifth place finishes were up for grabs heading into the final round this afternoon.
Kolby Newborg (Jr., Tea, S.D./Tea Area) and
Alex Snyder (Sr., Alta, Iowa/Alta-Aurelia) battled for the second-place team finish for the Raiders at the tournament. Ultimately, both shot a three-round total of 225 to finish tied for 39
th as individuals.
Trenton De Haan (Jr., Orange City, Iowa/MOC-Floyd Valley) and
Jackson Laven (Fr., Okoboji, Iowa/Spirit Lake) rounded out the top-5 for the Raiders, De Haan sneaking out a one stroke advantage over Laven.
