Men's Tennis to Play Doane in GPAC Quarterfinal

The Event... Postseason play begins for the Northwestern College men's tennis team as they are paired against Doane in a GPAC Quarterfinal Friday morning, April 30. First serve is set for 9am on the Fremont High School tennis courts in Midland, Neb. 

    Northwestern is the No.6 seed in the six-team, single-elimination tournament; Doane earned the No.3 seed. The winner advances to play Concordia in the GPAC semifinals at 2pm on Friday; the championship will be on Saturday, May 1 at 10am.

The Rivalry...Friday's match will be the 10th played in the rivalry between Northwestern and Doane, since the 1998 season. Northwestern is 7-2 all-time against Doane but has lost the last two matches, including a 7-0 setback played earlier this spring on March 26.

    2001: 5-4 win

Postseason History...The 2021 season is the fifth time the Raiders have qualified for the GPAC postseason tournament and first under head coach Monte Tilgner (there was no postseason in 2020 due to CoVID). Northwestern has a 1-3 record in the GPAC Quarterfinals, advancing to the semifinals in 2003.

Earlier this Season...Northwestern lost to Doane 7-0 in a match played on March 27 in Crete, Neb.
