Zach Kinney (
Johnston, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Northwestern College in the fall.

Kinney is a 6'0" pitcher who has lettered two years for the Johnston High School baseball team heading into his final season this summer. Kinney has been part of two state tournament teams and helped lead the Dragons to the 4A state title in 2020 with a 24-3 record. He also was a member of a Johnston team that finished as the state runner-up in 2019 with a 36-6 mark.
"We are really excited for Zach, a state champion, to join our program," commented Northwestern head coach
Brian Wede. "He is a good pitcher who will provide an immediate impact to our pitching staff. Zach comes from one of the top programs in the state/region and has a good understanding of high level baseball. On top of his athletic ability, we really like who he is and feel like he is a great fit for Northwestern away from baseball as well."
An honor roll student, Kinney plans to study Exercise Science at Northwestern. He is the son of Dan and Chris.
"I chose to come to Northwestern because of the outstanding coaching staff," said Kinney. "The coaches were friendly and showed genuine interest in me, both as a player and as a student. Northwestern has top-notch facilities and a great Christian message as well."
