ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern College League of Legend team (2-2) defeated the University of British Columbia (Canada) Thunderbirds Jade team 2-1 on Friday in comeback fashion.
The Raiders dropped the first game to the Thunderbirds as the game would go back and forth throughout, the gold lead transferring hands six times. However, UBC was able to get a pick onto Northwestern's ADC and capture Baron. Following this UBC continued to pick off Northwestern's team until they closed out the game around the 32-minute mark.
Game two was a decisive win for the Raiders and the comeback was on. The final score total being 18-5. The win was aided by strong performances by both the bot lane and top lane with ADC
Ryan Van Ostrand (Sr., Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Christian) going 7/3/6 and dealing three times the damage of the enemy ADC. Support player
Sonu Gupta (Fr., Birgunji, Nepal/National Infotech) going 1/1/12 providing excellent support in each of the team fights, and our top laner
Jonathan Keuhn (Sr., Ostego, Minn./Homeschooled) going 2/0/4 and nearly shutting out the enemy top laner of participating in the game.
The third game was another controlled victory for Northwestern with the final being 39-17 in kills. The game was highly active and led by mid-laner and jungler
Erik Vander Laan (Sr., George, Iowa/George-Little Rock), as he finished the game 11/1/12, impacting every lane throughout the game. Mid-laner
Austin Hendershot (Fr., Washington Boro, Pa./Penn Manor) also dominated throughout the game going 10/2/14 and finished the game with the most damage dealt for the Raiders.
