ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern League of Legends squad (1-2) fell to the Midland Warriors Wednesday evening.
Game one went in favor of the Warriors though no team held a distinct advantage in the early stage of the first game. Midland got over the hump by winning the first major team battle, wiping out four of the Northwestern players from the field. Despite their best efforts, the Raiders were unable to turn the tide after the first major team battle.
Game two was a complete flip of the script as the Raiders came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, securing an early kill and gold lead. Freshman
Austin Hendershot (Washington Boro, Pa./Penn Manor) executed a beautiful steal on the first Rift Herald. Northwestern maintained dominance throughout the second game and senior ADC player
Ryan Van Ostrand (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Christian) led the charge from start to finish.
The decisive game three went back to the back-and-forth battling but the Raiders were unable to complete the reverse sweep. The story of game three was a slow and steady burn as Midland continuously found and capitalized on slight advantages in the trades that both teams were taking. Eventually their advantage grew too great to overcome.
