Women's Basketball Aims For Third Straight Win

Game Time... Northwestern and Jamestown, tied for sixth place in the current GPAC standings, clash Wednesday night in a key conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 6pm in Jamestown, N.D. Northwestern has won two straight and is 9-9 in the GPAC, 14-9 overall; Jamestown has won three of its last four games, is 9-9 in the GPAC, 16-10 overall.

All-Time...Northwestern leads the all-time series 10-4, dating back to the 2006-07 season, and has won four straight in the rivalry. They are 8-2 over the last 10 games against Jamestown, including a 78-51 home win earlier this season on Nov. 23.

Last Time vs Jamestown...Northwestern College used stifling defense to down the University of Jamestown 78-51 in a conference match-up played earlier tihs season at the Bultman Center. 

Devyn Kemble led all players with 15 points and was one of three Red Raiders to net double figures. Bre Schuiteman totaled 13 points, nine from beyond-the-arc, while Sammy Blum put in 10 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists. Three additional Red Raiders scored at least eight points each.

Defense was the story as Northwestern held Jamestown to a season-low 27% from the field, 19% (4/21) from the three-point line. The Red Raiders also forced 29 turnovers and held an opponent to under 60 points for the fourth time this season.

The Jimmies had their three-game win streak snapped, losing to top-ranked and unbeaten Hastings last time out, 65-51. They had defeated College of Saint Mary, Presentation and Mount Marty prior to their loss against the Broncos. Jamestown is tied with Northwestern for sixth place in the GPAC with four games left in the regular season. They are 16-10 overall and received votes in the last poll.

Coach Sankey is in his second year as the Jimmies head coach and returns three starters, seven players, from a 2018-19 team that finished tied for ninth in their first year in the GPAC at 8-14, 15-14 overall.

The Red Raiders are coming off consecutive wins, defeating both No.9 Dordt and Doane, at home last week. They moved back to .500 in conference play with a 9-9 record, 14-9 overall.
