Baseball Hosts Dordt In Conference Doubleheader

Game Time... Northwestern will host Dordt for a pair of conference baseball games Tuesday, April 9 at 5/7:15pm. (games are moved from Friday due to predicted wet weather). Northwestern is currently in a three-way tie for seventh place in the GPAC standings at 7-9, 13-19 overall. Dordt is 11th in the conference with a 2-14 record, 5-18 overall.

All-Time...Since 2007, Coach Wede's first season as the head of the Red Raider baseball program, Northwestern is 27-6 all-time against Dordt. They are 7-3 over the last 10 match-ups, including winning all four games last season.

The Defenders have lost four straight and six of their last eight to fall into 11th place in the GPAC with a 2-14 record. They split against Midland in a four game set earlier this season for their wins in conference play. Last time out, they dropped games to University of Jamestown and Briar Cliff and own a 5-18 overall record. 

Schouten is in his 16th season as the head of the Defenders' baseball program, holding the position since the 2004 season. A former standout player with the Defenders, Schoten spent seven years as the assistant coach as well. He returns one starter (field), three starting pitchers and a total of 15 players from a 2018 team that went 7-19 in the GPAC, 10-26 overall.

The Red Raiders closed last week with a split against Dakota Wesleyan, losing the first game 10-7 before coming back with a 4-2 win in game two. They finished the week going 4-4 and are now tied with both Mount Marty and Doane for seventh in the current GPAC standings with a 7-9 record, 13-19 overall.
