Newborg To Play Golf At Northwestern

Kolby Newborg (Tea, S.D.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his golf career at Northwestern College next fall.

13144Newborg has enjoyed a standout, six-year career playing for the Tea Area High School golf team. Newborg, a two-time all-state selection, finished as the state runner-up last fall and led his team to a seventh place showing at the state tournament. He placed fifth and led his team to the state championship as a junior. Newborg has a scoring average of 74 and carded a career-best score of 65 in the Bakker Crossing Club Championship. An honor roll student, Newborg plans to major in math at Northwestern. He is the son of Darren and Jamie.

"I'm excited to re-unite Kolby with his former teammate and fellow recruit, Brock Murphy," commented Northwestern head coach Aaron Aberson. "Kolby is a very solid player with a ton of competitive experience. He has played his best in big moments and matches and I'm looking forward to watching him improve and compete for one of varsity spots."
