Carlson’s First Event Win Leads to GPAC Award

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern freshman Nate Carlson has been named the GPAC Men's Golfer of the Week, presented by Hauff/Mid-America Sports, after winning the NAIA Midwest Invitational.

"Nate has been very consistent this season, and this week was more of the same from him," head coach Jonathan Beaver said. "It wasn't always easy, but he battled the way great competitors do. This win showed his mental strength to stay disciplined and get the most out of each round. I am excited for his future."

Carlson won his first collegiate event, leading the field at TPC Deere Run and the NAIA Midwest Invitational. He shot a 72 in the first round and followed with a 74 in the second round to win the event. Northwestern represented each of the top four golfers in the final standings.

Northwestern will compete at one more tournament this fall, traveling to Blanchard, Oklahoma for the Battle at Winter Creek on October 12-13.
