Men's Basketball Hosts Midland

Game Time... Northwestern College plays host to Midland for a conference match-up this weekend at the Bultman Center. Tip-off on Saturday, Dec. 8 is scheduled for 4pm. Northwestern is in sixth place in the conference standings with a 2-3 record, 7-5 overall, and Midland is 2-4 in GPAC play, 4-7 overall.

All-Time...One of the longest standing rivalries, Northwestern holds a 68-27 advantage in the all-time series since their first meeting in 1960-61. The Red Raiders have won four of the last five and are 5-5 over the last 10 match-ups against Midland. 

Scouting Reports...

    Midland University Warriors:  2-4 (T7th), 4-7 overall        Head Coach: Oliver Drake (4th year)


The Warriors have dropped three straight games, all to ranked teams, heading into Saturday's match-up against Northwestern. Losses to Bellevue, Hastings and Morningside have put the Warriors in a seventh place tie with Dordt at 2-4 in the GPAC, 4-7 overall. Midland has wins over Concordia and Doane in conference play.

Drake returns four players from a 2017-18 team that tied Dordt for eighth place in the GPAC with a 6-12 record, 16-14 overall. Midland did not qualify for the conference tournament last season and were picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll.

 The Red Raiders had its three-game win streak snapped last time out, giving up a season-high 113 points in its loss at the University of Jamestown Wednesday night. Northwestern had wins over St. Xavier, Trinity Christian and 21st-ranked Dordt prior to that loss. They have had a pair of three-game win streaks this season, opening the season with wins over Valley City State, Mayville State and Oak Hills Christian.

Northwestern has outrebounded its opponent in 10 of the 12 games played; but, has been outrebounded the last two games vs Dordt and Jamestown

Trent Hilbrands and Jay Small lead the Red Raiders with 11 and 10 games scoring in double figures, respectively.
