Anna Kiel put down double figure kills in both matches to lead No.13 Northwestern College to a pair of wins at the Bulldogs Bash played today in Seward, Neb. The Red Raiders defeated the University of Mary (N.D.) 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18) and followed with a sweep over Bethany (Kan.) 25-11, 25-14 and 25-20.Â
Northwestern has won three straight matches and improves to 6-1 on the year.
Kiel led the Red Raiders with 12 kills in the win over U. of Mary, hitting .321 out of the middle, to go with 3.5 blocks. Both
Josie Blankespoor and
Lauryn Hilger put down nine kills each and Wacker lofted up 35 assists against the Mauraders.Â
Kiel proved to be too much for the Swedes in the final match on day one, totaling 10 kills in 13 attempts, hitting .769.
A.J. Horstman (7),
Makenzie Fink (5) Hilger (4) and
Emily Van Ginkel (4) were the other top hitters. Fink added a career-high six aces and Hilger led all backrow players with 12.Â
Northwestern will play Chadron State and York on Saturday, Sept. 2.Â
