Red Raiders Down College of Saint Mary; Split GPAC Matches

Northwestern College won four of six singles' matches in defeating College of Saint Mary 5-4 in the final match of two played today in Orange City, Iowa. The Red Raiders opened the day with an 8-1 loss to Hastings.

Northwestern is now 1-1 in the GPAC, 5-4 overall. 

Down 2-1 heading into the six singles matches, Northwestern won four to come back and defeat the Flames. Kendra McGinnis improved to 6-3 at No.3 singles with a straight set win over Allyah Rayyan, 7-6 (7-4) and 6-3. Kelly Shortenhaus picked up her fourth win of the season, earning a three-set win at No.6 singles. McKayla Johnson and Emma Van Drie also picked up singles' wins.

Johnson teamed with Alli Derr to earn the lone win in doubles, and 8-6 in at the No.3 spot.

McGinnis picked up the only win in the morning match against Hastings, defeating Bailey Christy in a tie-break at No. 3 singles.

Northwestern will play Morningside on Tuesday, April 11 in Sioux City.
