Ayeni, Holscher Earn Victories Against Doane

Yemisi Ayeni and Zoe Holscher picked up wins in both singles and doubles in the Red Raiders' 6-3 loss to Doane in a GPAC match played today in Crete, Neb. 

The loss was the Red Raiders' second straight as they fall to 2-4 in the GPAC, 6-7 overall, with one match remaining in the regular season. 

Ayeni improved her singles record to a team-best 10-3 with a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win over Ashley Zaeske at the top spot. Holscher earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ellie Bender at No.2, improving her record to 9-4 on the year. The duo then combined for an 8-4 win at No.1 doubles, defeating Brianna Kempel and Morgan Meyer, to improve their record to over .500 (7-6). 

All of the other singles matches went straight sets and in the host Tigers' favor. Doane also won the other two doubles matches by 8-1 scores.

Northwestern will close the regular season on Saturday, April 22 against Concordia in Seward, Neb.

No.3 Kendra McGinnis (7-6) lost to Brianna Kempel, 6-2, 6-0

No.4 McKayla Johnson (2-9) lost to Morgan Meyer, 6-0, 6-0

No.5 Emma Van Drie (4-8) lost to Jordan Buttermore, 6-1, 6-4

No.6 Kelly Shortenhaus (5-8) lost to Cheyanna Kempel, 6-2, 6-2

Doubles:

No.1 Ayeni/Holscher (7-6) def. B.Kempel/Meyer, 8-4

No.2 McGinnis/Van Drie (6-6) lost to Zaeske/C.Kempel, 8-1

No.3 Johnson/Alli Derr (2-3) lost to Bender/Buttermore, 8-1
