Red Raiders Host Ranked Opponent This Weekend

Game Time...Northwestern College will host Dakota State this weekend for a non-conference match-up between ranked teams. Tip-off on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Bultman Center is scheduled for 3pm. Northwestern, ranked first in last week's coaches' poll, is 10-2 this season while the Trojans bring a 7-4 record into Saturday's contest.

All-Time...Northwestern holds a 17-6 advantage in the all-time series against DSU, dating back to the 1970-71 season. The Red Raiders are 7-3 over their last 10 match-ups against Dakota State.

The Trojans have won four straight games since a three-game skid in early November, improving to 7-4 on the season. They have wins over two ranked teams, Briar Cliff and Jamestown, along with victories over Trinity Bible and Presentation during their recent surge. DSU is 3-1 against ranked teams this season.

Garner, a former NCAA D-I coach at Drake and Missouri State University, is in his ninth season as head coach at DSU. He returns two starters and five players from a 2016-17 team that finished fifth in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) with an 8-8 record, 16-16 overall.

Northwestern snapped its two-game losing skid with a 116-111 overtime win over Dordt in another classic match-up in the rivalry played Wednesday night at the Bultman Center. Nathan Wedel scored a career-high 46 points and Derek Buysse recorded the second double-double of his career with 20 points and 10 boards. The Red Raiders are 10-2 this season and have four wins over teams from the NSAA conference (Jamestown, Valley City State, Waldorf and Presentation)
