Red Raiders Come Up Short At Hastings

Northwestern College dropped its second staight GPAC match-up as they fell to Hastings 6-3 in a match played tonight in Hastings, Neb. The Red Raiders fall to 2-2 in conference play, 4-9 overall.

Valerie Robinson and McKayla Johnson earned the Red Raiders lone win in doubles play, picking up a convincing 8-1 win in the #2 slot over Bailey Christy and Alexa Obermier.

Robinson then defeated Christy at #2 singles 6-1, 6-1 to better her record to 7-6 and move back over .500 on the year. Daniela Lozano improved to 5-8 on the year with a tough tie-break win over Madison Fortunato at #1 singles. 

Northwestern plays on the road tomorrow morning (Saturday) against Nebraska Wesleyan.

#6. Tamra Wielenga (3-10) lost to Jessica Zach, 6-1, 6-0

Doubles:

#1.Lozano/McGinnis (0-6) lost to Fortunato/Bre Obermier, 9-7

#2.Robinson/Johnson (4-2) def. Christy/Alexa Obermier, 8-3

#3.Bishop/Wielenga (2-10) lost to Harlow/Zach, 9-8 (12-10)
