A.J. Horstman put down a career-best 30 kills in leading Northwestern College to a five-set, come-from-behind win over Dakota Wesleyan in a GPAC volleyball match-up played tonight in Mitchell, S.D. 

Northwestern earned its second win of the season against DWU and improved to 7-5 in conference play, 15-15 overall. The host Tigers drop to 3-8 in the GPAC, 15-10 overall. 

After a 25-21 first set win, Northwestern dropped the next two sets (25-23, 25-22) to fall behind 2-1. The Red Raiders came back with a 25-14 win in the fourth, hitting .387 while limiting DWU to .000. Northwestern hit an even better .500 in the decisive fifth set, putting down 12 kills in 20 attempts against just two errors as the Red Raiders put the match away.

Horstman led the Red Raiders with a career-best 30 kills, matching the school record for kills in a match set by Maggie Freiborg in 2003 against Midland. The freshman hit .292 and also tallied seven digs. Lauryn Hilger registered her ninth double-double of the season with 18 kills and a career-best 23 digs while Jessica Jensen put down 14 kills in 38 attacks. 

Jessa Doom lofted up a career-best 68 assists and directed a Red Raider offense that hit .257 for the match. Jillian Estes led the backrow with a season-best 27 digs and went a perfect 21-for-21 in serve receive. Brooke Van Gorp was also in double figures with 13 digs and went 19-for-21 from the service line.

Dakota Wesleyan hit .169 for the match, led by Lauren Tadlock with 19 kills and 11 digs.
