Northwestern improves to 3-0 in conference playÂ
Northwestern College played Midland University Saturday Evening. The Raiders took advantage of their few offensive attacks and played frustrating defense against the Warriors to pick up a 2-0 win. With the win Northwestern improve to 7-4 (3-0) on the season. Â With the loss the Warriors fall to 8-3 (2-1).Â
The Raiders offense only had two shot attempts the whole first half, but made sure they made both shots count.
Raiders got on the board early with a deep strike from Jennifer Inge, assisted by Madison Bertman.
Less than five minutes later Alissa Christoffer found a ball played in from the corner kick by Maddie Jacob to put the Raiders up 2-0 not even 15 minutes into the match.
Northwestern's defense took care of the rest of the game.  With terrific defensive play by Sabrina Tarchione, Sarah Beaton, and Madison Fordyce the Raider defense helped Fordyce earn her 5th shutout of the year.
Raiders took only six shots all game, compared to the Warriors 23 shot attempts.Â
Northwestern is currently on a five game win streak, while delivering four shutouts over the streak.Â
Northwestern is 3-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2007 season in which they rolled to a start 7-0 in conference play.
