Matt Schilling was hired as the Voice of the Raiders in the spring of 2026.
In the role, Schilling servesĀ as the primary play-by-play announcer for home Red Raider football, volleyball, and basketball games on the GPAC Network and Urban Edge Network. He is also the host of the Raiders Coaches Show, presented by Iowa State Bank.
Schilling brings versatility and experience to the microphone, serving as a high school sports play-by-play personality and video technician for Fuller Digital Solutions. Over the past five years, he has worked as a broadcaster for basketball, volleyball, football, baseball, and softball at Gehlen Catholic High School.
Before moving to Iowa, Schilling was a football video coordinator at Ball State University, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Minnesota. In 2014, he was named the Big Ten Video Coordinator of the Year and was a finalist for National Video Coordinator of the Year.
In addition to his broadcasting role, Schilling is the Tech Director at Gehlen Catholic schools. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school's IT department, a role in which he will continue in conjunction with his appointment at Northwestern.
Schilling graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2004 with a degree in radio and television production. He and his wife, Alison, reside in Le Mars with their children, Andrew, Mason, and Anna.
