Carter Aguilera

Carter Aguilera was hired in 2024 as Northwestern's Head Athletic Performance Coach.

A 2023 graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato, Aguilera earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science and completed his master's degree in exercise physiology in 2024. From 2020 to 2024, he served as a strength and conditioning coach for the Mavericks’ golf, wrestling, and cheer and dance teams. His experience also includes working as a strength coach at Monona Grove High School and as a student assistant for Minnesota State’s track and field program.

"Stepping into the role of head strength coach at Northwestern College is an incredible honor," Aguilera said. "This position is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to be part of a community that shares my passion for excellence and growth. I’m excited to help student-athletes maximize their potential, both on and off the field, and to make a lasting impact every day."

A decorated student-athlete, Aguilera was a Three-time NCAA Division II All-American and the NSIC Outstanding Senior Athlete of the Year. Over his collegiate career, he secured multiple NSIC championships, All-NSIC honors, and top finishes at the NCAA Division II Championships in discus, weight throw, and shot put.

Beyond the weight room, Aguilera is passionate about building strong relationships with his athletes. "Strength and conditioning isn’t just about lifting weights—it’s about developing confidence, discipline, and resilience that carry over into sport and life. Seeing athletes grow, whether it’s hitting a new PR, coming back stronger from injury, or learning to trust the process, is what makes this job special."
