Kristin Rotert

Rotert took over the Northwestern women's basketball program in May 2021 as the eighth head coach in program history. She posted a career record of 80-44 leading the program, while coaching two All-Americans and 15 All-Conference performers, including five First Team All-GPAC performers. She has led the Raiders to the the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament her first four seasons leading the program. 

Under Coach Rotert's direction, the women's basketball team has made four trips to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament. In her first season at the helm, she coached an All-American in Molly Schany (Honorable Mention). 

The 2022-23 season saw Rotert coach her first College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees in Emilee Danner and Molly Schany. Schany became her first Academic All-America selection for Rotert, earning Second Team honors. 

Rotert comes to Northwestern having served as the Director of Operations for the South Dakota State University (SDSU) women’s basketball program for the last three years. She was part of a coaching staff that led the Jackrabbits to the Sweet 16 and a Summit League title in 2019.

Prior to her appointment at SDSU, Rotert served as the head coach for the South Dakota Attack AAU team for four years. During this time, Rotert was also the Reach and Rise Youth Mentoring Director at Aberdeen Family YMCA in Aberdeen, S.D. She served as an instructor with Warwick Workouts both in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen.

A 2011 graduate from SDSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in health promotion, Rotert lettered for the Jackrabbits from 2007-11 and finished her career tied for the all-time lead in three-pointers made (250 – since broken) and eighth in scoring (1,484 points).
