High School: combined for seven letters running for the North Iowa High School cross country and track and field teams; earned all-conference honors three years, including first team accolades as a senior; qualified for the state track and field meet as a sophomore and senior; placed 11th in the 4x800 and 18th in the 1600m. 

Academic: Biology major. Personal: son of Christian and Cindy; brother to Christa; also a letterwinner for the Northwestern track and field team.
