Smith Headlines Weekly Golf Honors

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern junior Evan Smith has been named the GPAC Men's Golfer of the Week, presented by Hauff/Mid-America Sports, for his performance at the Northwest Iowa Invitational.

"Evan has been very steady and consistent this season," head coach Jonathan Beaver said. "He has finished in the top 10 in every event we have had and continues to improve week in and week out. Evan continues to trend and focus on the right things, and he is seeing the rewards of that work."

Smith was the top GPAC finisher at last week's Northwest Iowa National Invitational, tying for eighth in the 74-golfer field. He shot -7 over three rounds, including a team-low 67 in the second round.

Northwestern will compete at one more tournament this fall, traveling to Blanchard, Oklahoma for the Battle at Winter Creek on October 12-13.
