ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Northwestern picked up a 2-1 win over Dakota State on Wednesday at the NWC Soccer Complex, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes and holding on for the victory.
Adah Baron opened the scoring in the third minute before Lydia Timm added another goal in the ninth minute to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. Dakota State answered later in the first half, but Ella Top and the Northwestern defense kept the Trojans from finding the equalizer.
Dakota State was reduced to 10 players after receiving a red card in the 69th minute. The Raiders took advantage of the extra player and controlled the game late, closing out the 2-1 victory with an 11-7 advantage in shots.
