YORK, Neb. — Northwestern picked up a 2-0 road victory over York on Saturday, with sisters Lydia and Grace Timm finding the back of the net to lead the Red Raiders to their shutout win.
The Raiders controlled the match from the start, finishing with a 12-4 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in shots on goal. Northwestern created consistent pressure throughout the first half, with Lydia Timm breaking through in the 26th minute to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
York looked to respond early in the second half, but the Raider defense held firm behind goalkeeper Ella Top. Northwestern continued to create chances, and Grace Timm doubled the lead in the 77th minute, finishing off an assist from Lucy Staines to put the Raiders up 2-0.
Top and the Raider defense kept the Panthers off the scoreboard the rest of the way, securing Northwestern's shutout victory.
