Red Raiders Record NAIA Marks, Top-10 Finishes at Sioux City Relays

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern men's track & field produced multiple top-10 finishes and NAIA marks at the Sioux City Relays, held April 10–11 at Olsen Stadium.

Carson Van Sickle delivered one of the top performances of the weekend, placing sixth in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 1:51.39, an NAIA provisional qualifying mark. The time also moved Van Sickle to No. 5 in the NAIA this season.

Braden Kalvelage led the Red Raiders in the sprints, winning the 200 meters in 21.18, a wind-aided mark that ranks No. 12 in the NAIA. Teammate Mike Rodriguez added a fourth-place finish in 21.74, while Northwestern placed four athletes inside the top 16.

The Red Raiders also found success in the hurdles, as Josiah McFarland claimed the event title in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best 15.25. Kalarga Mukhtar followed with a runner-up finish in 15.49.

In the distance events, Alik McIlravy recorded a third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking 9:54.96 to move to No. 40 in the NAIA. Jake Huston added a seventh-place finish in the same event.

Northwestern added a strong showing in the field events, highlighted by Coltin Vargas, who cleared 1.88 meters to finish fifth in the high jump, ranking No. 87 nationally. In the triple jump, Jordan Carter placed second with a mark of 13.02 meters, moving to No. 88 in the NAIA.

The Red Raiders also earned a podium finish in the 4x400-meter relay, as the 'A' team of James Heinz, Landon Price, Aziah Ashley, and Collin Bliven placed third in 3:19.49, ranking No. 31 in the NAIA.
