Raiders Advance with Convincing 112-79 Win Over DWU

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern secured a commanding 112-79 victory over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday in the GPAC Quarterfinals. The Red Raiders shot an impressive 62.7% from the field, including 58.8% from downtown, to build a 39-point lead in the second half.

The Raiders stormed into the first half with a strong offensive display, quickly taking control with a 5–0 start. Jesse Van Kalsbeek was instrumental, contributing significantly with multiple made shots and assists. The home team capitalized on its shooting efficiency, converting on its first 10 field goals to total 24 of 33 field goals, including 11 triples out of 16 attempts in the half.

Defense was key for the Red Raiders, as they held DWU to 12 field goals on 33 attempts and forced four turnovers. The Raiders' bench chipped in with 11 points, keeping the pressure on throughout the half. By halftime, Northwestern stretched the lead to 65–29, showing dominance on both ends of the court.

In the second half, Northwestern kept control, with a balanced offensive effort. Van Kalsbeek started with a layup to push the lead further. Brennan Reid and Jalen Langsy contributed with key assists, while Manny Hammonds and Isaac Cordes sank treys to maintain the momentum. Northwestern extended the lead to 39 points, holding a 102-63 at the five-minute mark, displaying effective shooting from both inside the paint and beyond the arc.

Despite a 50-point surge from the Tigers in the second half, Northwestern's depth shone through as the bench played a significant role. Marcus Kelderman and Kasen Bailey each hit from beyond the arc late in the half, further solidifying the Raiders' position. As the clock wound down, Mason Coppock added another triple, and Mason Gerleman closed the game with a layup, sealing the final score at 112-79 for Northwestern.
