Raiders Pick Up Convincing Win on the Road

FOREST CITY, Iowa — Northwestern College (16-11, 12-9) decisively defeated Waldorf University (2-25, 1-20) on Wednesday, 84-41, with a dominant 49-18 rebounding advantage.

Northwestern began the first quarter with strong offensive execution, quickly establishing a lead with Emily TerWee scoring the opening basket. Allison Piercy and Ashtyn Wobig contributed with 3-pointers, while the Raiders capitalized on turnovers to maintain momentum.

The Red Raiders' defense limited the Warriors' scoring opportunities, holding them to nine points in the quarter. Kylie Foss capped off the quarter with a jumper, extending their lead. The first quarter concluded with the Raiders ahead 21-9.

In the second quarter, Northwestern extended its lead with a strong defensive effort and efficient scoring. TerWee contributed significantly with a layup following a steal at 7:38, and the team capitalized on turnovers, scoring 18 points in the quarter. The defense was effective, forcing eight turnovers and allowing only three baskets by Waldorf.

The visitors maintained control throughout the quarter, with Piercy adding a fast-break layup at 1:42 to push Northwestern's lead. By the end of the second quarter, the Raiders held a commanding 39–17 advantage over the Warriors.

Northwestern controlled the third quarter, starting with a strong defensive effort that forced five turnovers. TerWee capitalized on these opportunities by scoring six free throws early in the quarter. The team maintained momentum with an assertive presence in the paint, as Jenna Kluxdal and Wobig added to the scoring with key layups.

The Raiders' offense continued to dominate as Piercy and Aubrey Schwieso contributed with a 3-pointer and a fast-break layup, respectively. The defense limited Waldorf's scoring chances, allowing only three field goals. Northwestern closed the quarter with a commanding 64-28 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Northwestern maintained its strong offensive performance, opening the period with effective free throw shooting by Piercy and Kluxdal, which expanded the lead. The team capitalized on the Warriors' turnovers and defensive rebounds, with Piercy and Margo Schuiteman contributing to the scoring efforts. The Raiders' defense was robust, forcing seven turnovers and recording five steals, further hindering the home team's ability to close the gap.

Key plays included a fastbreak layup by Piercy following a steal, and Jaelye Woudstra hitting two 3-pointers, which reinforced the Red Raiders' lead. Northwestern concluded the game with a 20-13 fourth quarter, securing an 84-41 victory over Waldorf.
