Northwestern Dominates College of Saint Mary at Bultman Center

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern defeated College of Saint Mary 98-59 on Saturday at the Bultman Center, leading by as many as 43 points in the fourth quarter.

Northwestern opened the first quarter with a strong offensive performance, highlighted by a series of successful plays in the paint. Margo Schuiteman and Emily TerWee each contributed with layups, while Allison Piercy added a three-pointer, pushing the team to an early advantage. The home team effectively capitalized on turnovers, converting them into points with seven assists on nine field goals.

The defense also played a key role, with the Raiders recording three steals and two blocks. Despite a few missed opportunities, Northwestern maintained control of the game, holding the Flames to 15 points in the quarter and ending the first with a 21-15 lead.

Northwestern began the second quarter with a strong offensive display, highlighted by a series of successful plays in the paint. Emily TerWee and Ashtyn Wobig combined for several early layups, supported by key assists from teammates like Kylie Foss and Ellie Karolevitz.

The home team maintained its momentum through effective ball distribution, recording seven assists during the quarter. As the quarter progressed, Northwestern's offensive consistency, including a triple from Jaelye Woudstra, extended its lead to 47-34 at the half.

Northwestern seized control in the third quarter with a dominant scoring run. Margo Schuiteman and Emily TerWee led the charge, combining for multiple baskets, including points in the paint and a fast-break layup by Schuiteman early in the quarter. The Raiders' defense was formidable, forcing several turnovers and converting them into points on the other end, forcing a timeout in the midst of a 14-2 run.

The Raiders extended their lead significantly through a balanced attack, with contributions from players such as Jenna Kluxdal and Ellie Karolevitz, who added points from the line and inside the paint. The quarter concluded with Allison Piercy hitting a trey, giving Northwestern a commanding lead, 74-42, heading into the final quarter.

Emily TerWee set the tone early in the fourth with a layup assisted by Ashtyn Wobig, and the Raiders continued to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the paint, totaling 14 points near the basket. Wobig and Kluxdal contributed significantly, each scoring from beyond the arc and inside the paint, respectively. Aubrey Schwieso and Jenna Vande Weerd also added to the scoring, extending the lead with key baskets in transition on the way to a 98-59 win.
