Raiders Secure Close Wins in Lamoni

LAMONI, Iowa – Northwestern secured an 8-6 victory over Graceland at Chase Stadium and followed it up with an 8-5 win against the College of the Ozarks on Friday.

How It Happened
Northwestern secured an 8-6 victory over Graceland on Friday at Chase Stadium. Northwestern's offense was highlighted by four doubles contributing to its eight runs.

In the second inning, the Red Raiders took a commanding lead with four runs. Grant Rychnovsky and Tyler Schroeder reached base, setting the stage for Isaac Short, who delivered a two-RBI double. Brody Ayers capitalized on a Yellowjackets error, bringing in another run, followed by Bryce Click's RBI double. The score stood at 4-0 after the second.

In the third frame, the Raiders extended their lead with two more runs. Ranier Castillo walked and advanced to third on a throwing error before Short hit another double, bringing home both Castillo and Nikolai Wede. This pushed the lead to 6-1 after the third.

Graceland responded in the fifth inning, scoring five runs to tie the game at 6-6. The inning was highlighted by a series of doubles, including a two-RBI double, which brought the Yellowjackets back into contention.

Northwestern regained control in the sixth inning with a pair of runs. Short walked and was replaced by pinch-runner TJ Silliman, who scored on Ayers' double. Later, Grant Guidry singled to drive in Ayers, restoring the Raiders' lead to 8-6, setting the stage for Ayers' first save of the season.

How It Happened
Northwestern secured an 8-5 victory over College of the Ozarks as part of Friday's action. The Raiders capitalized on early scoring, with a four-run second inning setting the tone for the win.

The Bobcats took an early lead in the first inning, taking a 3-0 advantage through the first frame.

In the bottom of the second, the Raiders responded with a four-run surge. Grant Guidry singled to start the inning, and after a series of plays, Ranier Castillo scored on an RBI single by Kevin Rubio. Brody Ayers followed with an RBI single, and Bryce Click doubled to drive in two more runs, putting the Raiders ahead 4-3 after the second inning.

The Raiders added to their lead in the third inning. Guidry doubled and later scored on an RBI single by Rubio, extending the lead to 5-3 after the third.

The Bobcats managed to score a run in the third, narrowing the gap to 5-4, but the Raiders maintained control. In the bottom half, Tyler Schroeder doubled and scored on an RBI double by Nikolai Wede, making it 6-4.

In the sixth inning, the Ozarks hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 6-5. However, Devin Dirkx responded with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to bring the score to 8-5.

The final frame saw the Raiders' defense stand firm, with Peyton Montecinos retiring the side in order to secure Northwestern's fourth win of the year.
