Effort on Both Ends Leads to Commanding Win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern charged to a commanding victory over Briar Cliff, defeating them 100-73 on Wednesday night at the Bultman Center. The Red Raiders were on fire, shooting an impressive 60.6% from the field and turning 12 turnovers into 22 points.

The Raiders took advantage of the Chargers' miscues, with Jesse Van Kalsbeek and Kaleb Booth making significant contributions through skilled passes and shots. By the 5:16 mark, Northwestern had surged ahead, thanks to sharp shooting, including eight three-pointers.

Defensively, Northwestern held Briar Cliff to just 35 points in the first half, forcing five turnovers. Langsy was dominant in the paint, helping the Raiders rack up 26 points inside. The first half closed with Northwestern firmly in control, leading 54-35.

As the second half got underway, the Raiders wasted no time extending their lead. Van Kalsbeek made a key offensive rebound and putback dunk at 18:55, while Manny Hammonds sunk a three-pointer at 18:27, widening the gap to 59-35. The Raiders kept the pressure on with precise shooting and smooth ball movement, highlighted by Langsy's baskets at 16:02 and 15:13 to move ahead 63-43.

Throughout the second half, the Red Raiders continued to stretch their lead. Van Kalsbeek's defensive prowess sparked fast-break opportunities, including a crucial steal and one-handed slam at 13:26 to make the score 67-45. With contributions like Hammonds' three-pointer at 12:17 and Langsy's steady scoring, the Raiders kept their foot on the gas.

In the final minutes, Northwestern's balanced attack, supported by strong bench play and solid rebounding, sealed the deal. Brennan Reid's three-pointer at 3:56 and Marcus Kelderman's fast-break layup in the final minute ensured the Raiders wrapped up the game in style, finishing with a 100-73 victory.
