ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College athletics has named men's cross country student-athlete
Caleb Tofteland and women's soccer student-athlete
Aliza Edwards as the Raider Athletes of the Week, presented by American State Bank, for their performances during the week of September 8th.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Caleb Tofteland, Men's Cross Country
- Tofteland (Fr., Wichita, Kan.) finished 29th in the Raiders first meet of the year against NCAA schools, such as South Dakota State.
- The freshman clocked a four-mile time of 19:37.62, the best on the team.
- Tofteland earned Northwestern 18 points, helping them to an eighth place team finish.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Aliza Edwards, Women's Soccer
- Edwards (Jr., Spencer, Iowa) was the center of Northwestern's offense this week with an assist and a hat trick.
- In Saturday's win 3-1 over Avila (MO), the junior scored three goals in the first half and converted three of four shots on goal.
- Edwards also assisted on the lone goal in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Graceland
