NWC 3, MSIDE 1 (25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19)
How It Happened
The Raiders started strong in the first set, overcoming an early deficit with a five-point streak, including a key service ace by Nyah Potthoff, to take a 7-3 lead. Morningside called a timeout at 14-8 following a series of successful kills by Aubrey De Groot and Stella Winterfeld, but the Raiders maintained their momentum. The Mustangs attempted to close the gap, capitalizing on a few errors from the Raiders and a kill by Payten Lode, bringing the score to 23-19. However, the Raiders secured the first set win with a convincing 25-19 finish, aided by a final kill by Winterfeld.

In the second set, the Raiders established an early lead with a three-point streak, highlighted by Maddy Sampson's kill and two consecutive attack errors by Morningside. The Mustangs called a timeout after falling behind 7-2, but the Raiders extended the lead to 8-2 following a block by Zavyr Metzger and Emma Westphal. The Mustangs responded with a four-point run, narrowing the score to 8-6. Northwestern regained control with a series of kills from Winterfeld and Sidney Oostra, prompting a second Mustangs timeout at 15-10. The Raiders maintained their momentum with strategic plays, including a service ace by Oostra, and concluded the set with a decisive 25-17 victory.

In the third set, the Raiders initially kept pace, tying the score at 4-4 with a kill by De Groot. However, the Mustangs responded with a decisive 5-0 run, pushing the score to 7-4. The Raiders called a timeout at 10-7, but Morningside's offensive momentum continued as Lode and Adelyn Harris combined for multiple kills, extending their lead to 17-14. Despite the Raiders' efforts to rally, including a service ace by Potthoff and a kill by Winterfeld, the Mustangs stayed alive with a 25-21 victory.

The Raiders opened the fourth set with an impressive 7-0 run, capitalizing on multiple attack errors from Morningside and a service ace by Tierney Huss. The Mustangs responded with a 5-0 run, cutting the lead to 9-5 before the Raiders called a timeout to halt the Mustangs' momentum at 11-10.
