Edwards Breaks Tie as Northwestern Wins Back-to-Back

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern secured its second win in a row with a 1-0 victory over Bethel (Kan.) on Friday night at the NWC Soccer Complex.

The first half saw the Red Raiders create multiple scoring opportunities, with their persistence paying off in the 33rd minute. Aliza Edwards scored the opening goal, assisted on a deep pass from Mya Cole, marking Edwards' first goal of the season. The visitors managed several attempts throughout the half, but Bailey Bynum kept the Threshers off the board and collected two first-half saves. The Red Raiders maintained pressure throughout the half, getting an opportunity on a corner kick from Cole to Edwards, but the score remained 1-0 after the first 45.

The second half witnessed an aggressive offensive effort from the Raiders, particularly through Edwards, who took multiple shots on goal, including attempts in the 48th and 50th minutes. The Threshers managed to mount a defense with their goalkeeper, Jacie Scott, saving several attempts, notably in the 75th minute. The Threshers' defense also saw action, with multiple blocked shots, while their offense struggled to break through. The half concluded with a flurry of fouls and two yellow cards for Bethel, as the game ended with the Red Raiders maintaining their 1-0 lead.
