De Jong Named Assistant AD for Facilities and Operations

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Travis De Jong has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations at Northwestern College.

"We are blessed to have Travis join our athletic staff," Vice President for Athletics Tony Hoops said. "His administrative and coaching background combined with a strong familiarity of Orange City and a passion for our Christian mission made him the ideal candidate for this vitally important role."

De Jong comes to Northwestern from Orange City Christian School, where he has worked since 2014. Since 2022, he has served as Development Director, leading fundraising efforts for major projects and planning events. Throughout his time at OCCS, De Jong has also served as an Athletic Director and K-8 physical education teacher. In the AD role, he has managed facility rentals and scheduling, led the local Christian schools league, and managed equipment inventory and maintenance.

"I'm incredibly grateful and honored to join the Northwestern College Athletic Department," De Jong stated. "Northwestern has a rich and proud tradition of excellence in athletics, and I'm excited to contribute to that legacy. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to President Christy and Tony Hoops for entrusting me with this opportunity to represent Northwestern College in this role. I look forward to serving our student-athletes and continuing the pursuit of excellence while honoring Christ!"

Prior to his time in Orange City, De Jong held AD and teaching roles at Isaac Newton Christian Academy in Cedar Rapids from 2008-14.

He has also been involved in athletics at Northwestern on a part-time basis, joining softball's staff as an assistant coach in 2021.

"I'm excited to work with Travis on our athletic leadership team as we continue to Honor Christ Through Excellence in Athletics," Hoops added.

De Jong graduated from Dordt University in 2008 with a degree in physical education and earned a master's in sport leadership from Dordt in 2023. He resides in Orange City with his wife, Kari, and children, Briggs, Krew, and Declyn.
