Northwestern Closes Season at NAIA Championships

SILVIS, Ill. – Northwestern made its 10^th appearance in program history at the NAIA Championships this week, battling through wet and stormy conditions to finish 16^th overall.

After lightning canceled the Raiders' round on Tuesday, play began in the afternoon session on Wednesday. Axton Miller led the way with a 73 in the first round, followed by Qwenton Caldwell's and Ray Greller's 74.

Still in play to make the cut going into day two, Northwestern improved its score by six strokes, finishing at 293/+9 on the day. Miller was consistent at 73, while Caldwell, Evan Smith, and Jackson Laven all improved from their first-round scores as well.

Jackson Laven closed his career with a 74.0 average in 103 rounds, eclipsing the program record for career average.

Axton Miller broke the program record for single-season average, ending the year with a 72.4 mark.

The top 15 teams are still in play in the 54-hole championship as the NAIA will crown a national champion on Friday.
