Northwestern Falls into Elimination Bracket

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Northwestern fell 9-0 in six innings to No. 13 Marian (Ind.) in a winner's bracket contest on Tuesday.

How It Happened
Marian defeated the Red Raiders 9-0 in a winner's bracket game at Open Space Park, highlighted by two four-run innings in the fifth and sixth.

The Knights opened the scoring in the fourth inning with an RBI single, who singled up the middle after a double down the left field line, leading 1-0 after the inning.

The fifth inning saw the Knights extend their lead with a two-run double, who later advanced home on an error, extending the lead to 3-0.

A bases loaded hit to center field catapulted the Knights to four runs in the fifth, extending the lead to five runs after the fifth.

The Raiders put two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the sixth, but the Knights put Northwestern away with a flyout to left, securing a 9-0 win and a spot in the bracket championship.
