Sweep Seals Third Consecutive Season Title

Orange City, IA - A change in schedule for Northwestern saw Waldorf come to Orange City but the Raiders were able to sweep the Warriors in 6-1 and 5-0 victories to clinch a share of the GPAC regular season title for the third straight year.

Northwestern opened the game with a strong start in the first inning as Gwen Mikkelsen drove in the first run with a single to center field, putting the Raiders on the board. Waldorf responded with a run of their own, tying the score at 1–1. In the third inning, the Raiders capitalized on a Warriors error as Ashtyn Billings scored again, followed by Mikkelsen scoring on a sacrifice fly by Tatum Schmalbeck. The fifth inning was pivotal for the Raiders, with errors by Waldorf allowed more baserunners and runs, with Charli Bomgaars and Sydney Jacobs each contributing RBI singles. Billings added another RBI with a groundout, extending the lead to 6–1 after the fifth inning. The Warriors managed a few hits but were unable to add to their run total as Northwestern's defense held strong through the remaining innings for the 6-1 victory.

Game Notes
  • Sydney Jacobs went three for five at the plate with an RBI
  • Ashtyn Billings had an OPS of 1.000 with two hits and three walks
  • Kralik and Flanagan combined for seven strikeouts and one walk
  • Jori Hajek registered a hit, two walks, stole a base, and a scored a run in four at bats
  • Five Raiders stole a base, including Maddie Kvatek who stole twice

The Raiders opened the game against the Warriors with Ravyn Krachey's RBI double, before Gwen Mikkelsen scored on the second Waldorf error of the inning. In the third inning, the Raiders extended their lead with a solo home run from Krachey. Northwestern scored again on a fielder's choice to lead 4–0 after the third inning. The Raiders added an insurance run in the seventh inning with a Chloe Gallegos RBI ground out to make it 5–0. The Warriors were unable to mount a comeback, as the Northwestern defense held them scoreless throughout the game to clinch the GPAC season title. 

Game Notes
  • In her seventh start this season, Ravyn Krachey notched a 2 RBI double and a solo home run
  • Ashtyn Billings scored two runs without registering a hit
  • Three Raiders notched a stolen base
  • Northwestern pitchers only struck out two batters in the contest
