YANKTON, S.D. – Northwestern was among 19 schools competing at a one-day event hosted by Mount Marty that showcased some night time running.
Carson Van Sickle made his return to the 800m in fashion, winning the event among a field of 50 athletes with a time of 1:54.56. The 800m race also consisted of division 1 runners from South Dakota State.
Mike Rodriguez had a great day at the large meet with two top 5 finishes in the 100m sprint and long jump. Rodriguez also found himself only one hundredth of a meter behind first place.
Elijah Weaver finished third place in the 110m hurdles; however, he was the top NAIA performer in a large field. A similar result for Ben VanDeBerg who finished 6th in the 5000m but was second out of NAIA racers.
Lastly Drew Geetings had a strong performance in long jump with a final jump of 1.91m and only finished five hundredths of a meter behind two Division 1 opponents and was the top NAIA jumper.
