How It Happened
Northwestern jumped ahead in the second inning, scoring two runs on Friday before a rain delay suspended the game until Saturday.

The inning started with Tatum Schmalbeck doubling to center, followed by Sydney Jacobs reaching on an error and stealing second base. Jori Hajek drove in the first run with a single, and Maddie Kvatek was hit by a pitch, allowing Jacobs to score. The inning continued with Charli Bomgaars and Schmalbeck each contributing with crucial hits that resulted in multiple runs, giving the Red Raiders a 7-0 lead.

Moving into the third inning, the Raiders maintained their momentum by getting runners on base, but they were unable to convert them into runs. Chloe Gallegos was hit by a pitch and Cassidy Gors managed a single, but the inning ended without further scoring, keeping the score at 7-0.

The Raiders added to their lead in the fifth, scoring two runs. Hajek singled and was advanced by Kvatek's sacrifice. Gors then hit a double to score Hajek, followed by a single from Ashtyn Billings that brought in Gors. These efforts extended the Raiders' lead to 9-0, ending the contest after five innings.
