Dykstra Shutout Helps Raiders Split Series

Hastings, NE - The Raiders travel to Hastings and split the Friday series behind a 7-0 Drew Dykstra shutout before dropping an 11-6 contest.

The Red Raiders opened the game with a Grant Guidry RBI single down the left-field line, bringing the Raiders to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Broncos were unable to respond, going down in order. Northwestern extended their lead in the second with another series of singles. Luke Wroblewski, Guidry, and Grant Rychnovsky each contributed RBI singles to cap a three-run inning, pushing the score to 4-0. The fourth inning saw another RBI single from Bryce Click and then in the fifth inning, the Raiders' offense continued to capitalize on opportunities and extended the lead to 7-0. The Raiders maintained their defensive hold, preventing the Broncos from scoring throughout the game.

Luke Wroblewski initiated the scoring for the Raiders in the third inning with a single, then stole second base, before being driven in with a Devin Dirkx RBI single and putting the Raiders on the board. In the fourth inning, the Raiders responded to the Broncos' initial lead with two doubles, pushing in a run. However, Hastings regained momentum in the bottom of the inning with three runs, extending their lead to 5-2. The sixth inning featured a strong offensive push from Northwestern. After Jack Craig doubled down the left field line, Wroblewski delivered an RBI single to right field, closing the gap to 7-3. Despite this effort, the Broncos responded with four runs in their half, maintaining a comfortable 11-3 lead. In the eighth inning, the Raiders again made strides with a two-run double from Grant Guidry, which brought the score to 11-6. It wouldn't be enough, however, as Hastings holds on to the 11-6 victory.

Game Notes
  • Luke Wroblewski was a force at the plate with five hits, two runs, and an RBI
  • Jack Craig also hit well with three hits, including two doubles, and scoring two runs
  • Raiders are now 16-10 on the season and 5-5 in the GPAC
