How It Happened
Northwestern thwarted another early deficit to take the win over William Penn in today's Arizona finale.

In the third inning, the Statesmen managed to put two runs on the board. Frazee scored the first run after Pelds' single, while Smith added another run after being hit by a pitch, giving the Statesmen a 2-0 lead over the Raiders.

Despite the early setback, Northwestern responded strongly in the fourth inning. Maddie Kvatek scored thanks to an error, and Jori Hajek followed with a double, leading to another run. Cassidy Gors then reached on an error, which allowed Hajek to score, putting the Raiders ahead with a 3-2 lead. Ashtyn Billings further extended the lead with a triple, bringing Gors home.

The fifth inning saw the Raiders maintaining their defense solidly, with Aly Vortherms executing two key steals to keep the pressure on the Statesmen. Although the Raiders did not score in the inning, their aggressive base running highlighted their strategic approach.

In the final frame, the Raiders' defense held firm, making key plays to ensure no further runs were scored by the Statesmen. The game concluded with the Raiders securing a 3-2 victory, maintaining their lead from the decisive fourth inning.
