Van Kalsbeek Sweeps GPAC Weekly Honors

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern men's basketball forward Jesse Van Kalsbeek has been selected as this week's GPAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Hauff Mid-America Sports.

"Jesse brought a lot of energy and was active on both ends of the floor," said head coach Kris Korver. "He made his presence felt and was a difference maker."

Van Kalsbeek, a freshman from Orange City, Iowa, led the Raiders to two wins in the final week of the regular season. He averaged 31.5 points per game, posting a career-high 34 points in Saturday's comeback win over Waldorf. He also averaged 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 4.0 steals for the week, finishing Saturday's game with 34 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.

He was also named GPAC Defensive Player of the Week on December 16. Van Kalsbeek becomes the first player to receive GPAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors in the same week.

Northwestern begins its postseason journey on Wednesday, hosting Briar Cliff at 7:00 p.m.
