Lights Out Shooting Highlights Trip to Hastings

HASTINGS, Neb. – Northwestern shot its highest percentage of the season and their most in GPAC play, taking down Hastings 112-79 on the road.

The Red Raiders opened the first half with a strong offensive performance, highlighted by Conner Geddes' early three-pointer at the start. Jalen Langsy contributed consistently, making key plays including a three-pointer to help the Raiders maintain momentum. Jesse Van Kalsbeek emerged as a crucial player, scoring multiple times in the latter half of the half and capping it off with free throws to extend the lead. The Raiders' defense was effective, recording several steals, which contributed to their 50-36 lead over the Broncos at the end of the half.

In the second half, the Raiders extended their lead significantly, concluding with a score of 62 points in the half. Key performances included Kaleb Booth's three-pointer at the 18:02 mark and Van Kalsbeek's consistent scoring, highlighted by a jumper at 16:25 and a free throw at 15:47. The team capitalized on turnovers with Langsy and Marcus Kelderman adding defensive rebounds and a steal, respectively, as the half progressed.

GAME NOTES
  • The Raiders shot their highest percentage of the season, making 67.7% of their shots.
  • Their 112 points were their most in GPAC play and the most since November 9 against Mayville State.
  • Jesse Van Kalsbeek scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
