Men’s Track and Field Gearing Up for GPAC Indoor Championships

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern men's track and field team is gearing up for an exciting competition at the GPAC Indoor Championships, set to take place on February 14-15 in Mitchell, South Dakota. The events will be held at the DWU/Avera Sports & Wellness Complex, starting with the multis on Friday and continuing with the standard events on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

KEY ATHLETES TO WATCH
Braden Kalvelage stands out as a leading contender, holding the top marks in the GPAC for the 60m sprint with a time of 6.90 seconds and the long jump at 7.49 meters. His versatility shines through as he also ranks second in the 200m with an impressive 21.67 seconds. His performances will be pivotal for Northwestern as they aim to dominate the championships.

Another athlete to keep an eye on is Carson Van Sickle, who has demonstrated strong capabilities in middle-distance events. He currently ranks fifth in the GPAC for both the 600m and 800m, with times of 1:21.90 and 1:53.26, respectively. Van Sickle's contributions could be crucial in securing valuable points for the team.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
In addition to individual successes, Northwestern's 4x400m relay team is ranked fourth in the GPAC with a time of 3:19.67. This places them in a strong competitive position, adding further anticipation to their performance at the championships.

Other notable mentions include Tyreece Wynne in the 60m (6.92), Grant Palmer in the 200m (22.16), Drew Geetings in the high jump (1.93m), Lane Johnson in pole vault (4.25m), and Ben Thelander in the heptathlon with 4019 points.
