Burnette, Parmelee Lead Raiders at Conner/Oppenheim Open

CRETE, Neb. - The Raiders put together a strong showing at the Conner/Oppenheim Doane Open, highlighted by a finals appearance from 141-pounder Noah Parmelee and a four-win day from 149-pounder Johnny Burnette. The Raiders earned severeal quality wins, including victories over nationall-ranked opponents, while gaining valuable mid-season experience to close out the first semester.

Parmelee Storms to the Finals at 141

#17 Noah Parmelee continued his outstanding season with a 4–1 performance and a trip to the championship match. Along the way, he defeated two top-10 opponents and piled up bonus points throughout the bracket. His run included:

  • Fall (2:16) vs. Andrew Gonzales (Colorado Northwestern)

  • Tech fall 22–5 vs. Zeb Fitzgerald (Grand View)

  • Decision 10–6 vs. #8 Michael Trujillo (Arizona Christian)

  • Major decision 13–4 vs. #9 Guiseppe Guerra (St. Ambrose)

He dropped his finals match, but capped off an incredible day that solidified him as one of the most dangerous 141-pounders in the field.

Burnette Battles for Four Wins at 149

Johnny Burnette put together another high-output performance, going 4–2 while earning three bonus-point wins and a medical forfeit. His victories included:

  • Fall (3:39) vs. Jordan Irwin (Colorado Northwestern)

  • Fall (2:25) vs. Reid Foster (Grand View)

  • Medical forfeit 

  • Major decision 15–3 vs. Brayden Eikermann (Missouri Baptist)

His two losses came to nationally ranked or high-level opponents, including a 5–0 decision to #22 Cade White of Providence.

Braun Picks Up a Win in a Tough 157 Bracket

Cade Braun finished 1–2, grabbing a solid 7–5 decision over Myles Christen (Providence) before dropping his final two matches.

Amateur Division Results

Northwestern's younger athletes also gained experience and secured key wins:

  • 125 — Logan Schroeder: 1–2

  • 125 — Taye Jordan: 2–2

  • 184 — Carter Peterson: 2–2

  • 285 — Logan Ash: 1–2
