Raiders Eclipse Century Mark in 105-47 Victory

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern flexed its offense at the Bultman Center, cruising past Midland with a convincing 105-47 victory. The Raiders put together a 42-point third quarter and a commanding 59-26 edge on the boards, racking up 54 points in the paint.

The first quarter saw Northwestern set the tone early. Kylie Foss drilled a jumper, and Allison Piercy nailed a three-pointer, courtesy of an assist from Ashtyn Wobig, sparking a quick lead. The Raiders pounced on Midland's mistakes, turning turnovers into a six-point swing.

Dominating the glass, the home Raiders snagged offensive rebounds for crucial second-chance opportunities, holding an 8-4 edge in that department. With 2:14 on the clock, Ellie Karolevitz's layup, assisted by Foss, stretched the lead to five, the largest of the quarter. Despite the Warriors' efforts, Maddie Pottebaum's fast-break layup after a steal helped Northwestern close the quarter ahead, 23-20.

The Raiders turned up the heat in the second quarter, mixing staunch defense with precision in the paint. Margo Schuiteman's three-pointer at 7:08 sparked another surge, contributing to twelve points inside. Midland struggled, hitting just two of eighteen shots, while Northwestern's defense shone with three blocks. By halftime, the Raiders stretched their lead to nineteen, heading into the locker room up 44-25.

The third quarter was a showcase of offensive excellence, as Northwestern poured in 35 points, hitting 13-of-17 from the field, including five from beyond the arc. The defense was relentless, allowing only nine points and adding three steals and two blocks. Foss kicked off a scoring run with a layup, followed by Piercy's timely three-pointer at 7:13. Emily TerWee dominated inside, contributing baskets and rebounds, and Piercy capped the quarter with a buzzer-beater from long range, pushing the lead to 79-34.

Northwestern kept its foot on the gas in the fourth quarter. Schuiteman scored early, thanks to Wobig's assist, and Foss added another three-pointer to widen the gap. The defense remained stout with three blocks and nine defensive rebounds, stifling Midland's chances and securing a 105-47 home win.
