Raiders Light It Up from Deep to Roll Past Viterbo, 99-70

ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Northwestern College (5-0) secured a decisive 99-70 victory over Viterbo University on Saturday at the Bultman Center, fueled by a 15-for-27 performance from beyond the arc.

Northwestern opened strong, gaining an early advantage with a series of high-percentage shots in the paint. Jesse Van Kalsbeek led the charge with multiple scoring efforts, contributing significantly to the team's points in the paint, as the Red Raiders established momentum.

As the half progressed, the Raiders' defense capitalized on turnovers, resulting in fastbreak opportunities and extended possessions. Jalen Langsy and Isaac Cordes each added 3-pointers, further increasing the team's lead. By the end of the first half, the Raiders had built a commanding lead, closing with a 58-31 advantage over the V-Hawks.

At the start of the second half, the Raiders wasted no time opening up with back-to-back 3-pointers from Langsy and Grant Tigges, further extending their lead. Van Kalsbeek's strong presence in the paint, highlighted by a smooth jumper and a tough layup, helped the Raiders maintain firm control of the game. The team sustained its sharp shooting and relentless defensive pressure throughout the half.

Viterbo attempted to close the gap with consistent scoring, but Northwestern's strong offensive execution, including a string of three-pointers from Brennan Reid and Max Dearborn, kept the visitors at bay. The Raiders maintained their commanding position over the V-Hawks and closed out the game 99-70 and improve their record to 5-0 on the season.
