Undefeated GPAC Record Again for Northwestern

ORANGE CITY, Iowa - The Raiders rounded out their regular season on Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep of the Waldorf Warriors as they claimed a third straight regular season title and their second straight undefeated conference record.

How It Happened

The first set commenced with a Warriors' service ace to start the scoring, but the Raiders responded swiftly, with Rylie Franken and Emma Westphal each contributing multiple kills, pushing the home team ahead. Liv Reitsma facilitated a consistent offense, as she assisted on several key points, including a service ace. The Warriors called a timeout trailing 22-15, but the Raiders continued their momentum, capitalizing on attack errors. The set concluded in favor of Northwestern, 25-15, after a block by Maddy Sampson sealed the final point.

Metzger and Stella Winterfeld were instrumental in the Raiders' dominant second set against the Warriors, contributing to several key points through effective blocks and kills. Despite an early 3-0 lead by the Warriors, Northwestern responded by capitalizing on attack errors and service aces, gaining a 5-4 advantage. Waldorf's attempts to regroup were hindered by a series of errors, and the Raiders extended their lead to 13-6, prompting a timeout by the Warriors. The home team maintained control with a balanced attack, sealing the set at 25-13.

Northwestern took control early in the third set with a series of key plays, including a kill by Stella Winterfeld and a block by Zavyr Metzger, leading to a 4-2 advantage. The Warriors briefly tied the score at 5-5, however, the Raiders' offense, fueled by Metzger and Sidney Oostra, quickly regained momentum, pushing the lead to 13-8. The set continued in the Raiders' favor, with Winterfeld and Oostra delivering decisive kills, culminating in a 25-14 set victory to secure the match.

  • Zavyr Metzger rounded out her regular season strong with seven kills and eight blocks (two solo).
  • Sidney Oostra had her moment to shine with hitting .529 with nine kills, many to stop scoring runs by the opponent.
  • Stella Winterfeld once again stacked the box score with 11 kills, six digs, four blocks, and a service ace.
  • Emma Westphal made the most of her attacks- eight kills on 10 attacks.
  • Liv Reitsma and Nyah Potthoff had similar days with 15 assists and two aces for Reitsma and 14 assists and an ace for Potthoff.
